Over the past few weeks, The Conference Shop team has been busy inspecting new and updated venues all across Sydney. Overall the trip was very successful and we are so impressed with what Sydney is bringing to the table for corporate events. So today we want to share with you our biggest highlights from each venue we visited.
Four Seasons Sydney
Four Seasons is a five-star hotel with a million-star background view of the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Located just off George Street and right in the heart of Sydney’s CBD this venue is within walking distance to The Rocks and Circular Quay. The Four Season’s atrium lobby invites you in while the wide lobby staircase leads you up to the 7 conference rooms on the first floor. The ground floor New Grand Ballroom may have limited immediate foyer area but the room itself is spacious, pillar-less (yes! Pillar-less!!) and boasts an AMAZING 12m LED screen to deliver high impact presentations to up to 520 banquet guests.
The hotel has 498 rooms and from the well-placed window seats in their Harbour View rooms guests will enjoy stunning views of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. All rooms have been recently refurbished and ooze Hamptons chic, enhanced with pops of bold native Australian birdlife art, quality bed linen and plush bathroom towels to help you relax and unwind. Eco friendly individual water cartons (not plastic bottles!) are complimentary, and every room includes a coffee pod machine so you can wake up slowly in the comfort of your own space.
Mode Restaurant presents well for small gatherings with areas that can be privately booked for meetings or dining. The feel is sophisticated and contemporary with a modern Australian menu. After dinner, wander over to Grain to continue the conversation or perhaps embark on a whiskey tasting tour from the bar’s extensive selection of globally sourced whiskeys. Or why not impress your guests with a custom floating image or logo atop a cheeky cocktail – it’s sure to get their attention!
The Shangri-La Sydney must have one of THE most famous views in the city. In Altitude Restaurant on level 36 you are treated to towering 270-degree views of Sydney Harbour while you enjoy award-winning dining experiences crafted by their excellent culinary team. You can even reserve a small, private ‘glass jewel box’ dining room for those special occasions for groups of 18 guests or less. At ground level, this dress circle hotel delivers you to the historic Rocks district just outside its doors. The accommodation rooms and suites have an old-world charm and refined executive feel and with an inventory of 564 rooms, can easily host your large groups in one place.
There are a total of 16 conference spaces available to cater for all sizes of meetings and breakout requirements. These rooms can be colour coded with digital signage and ceiling LED lighting to make your group room switches seamless and quick. The talented AV team can also put together 3D floor plans to give you a better picture of how your event will look and flow. While on the basement level the pillar-less Grand Ballroom can host up to 500 banquet seating, offering a state of the art LED wall for amazing presentation power. The pre-function space of the Grand Ballroom has entry rugs that can be decaled to offer a truly immersive branding experience. Imagine the imagery you can design, together with creative lighting, to enhance this space and drive your group’s interest!
Hyatt Regency Sydney
With 2 spacious pillar-less ballrooms plus 21 additional meeting/breakout rooms, the Hyatt Regency must be your one-stop-shop for eventing. But should you require even more event space, the International Conference Centre Sydney is just a short walk away over the Pyrmont foot bridge. The cantilevered ballrooms perched over the Eastern Distributor offer uninterrupted views of Darling Harbour. They are quiet, bright, and instilled with high level technology and easy access to meet even the most demanding requirements.
The 888 accommodation rooms make the Hyatt Regency the largest hotel in Sydney and all rooms have been recently refurbished to a modern, comfortable standard to make your stay the most enjoyable. The rooftop Zephyr bar is a sensational place to kick off an event with cocktails and views. The bar can be partially hired for smaller groups to give an air of exclusivity to your event. Then there is the Sailmaker Restaurant where chef Sven heads a multi-national team sure to excite your guests with a culinary exploration of global tastes. Or for a small group the Jackalberry is the perfect space to have a quick catch up or informal meeting. I hear the bartender there can also entertain groups with cocktail making know-how sure to please and inspire.
The ever-dignified Hilton Hotel Sydney is directly adjacent to the stately Queen Victoria Building shopping arcade and located in the city’s business district which makes a perfect location to entice your delegates to come and stay and play. There are two levels of dedicated conference space with a Grand Ballroom suitable for 480 guests. Various configurations of smaller event spaces offer flexibility and easy flow for breakouts.
The Hilton recently had a makeover with all the 587 guest rooms and suites undergoing an extensive redesign and refurbishment. Your guests will be sure to enjoy modern technology and superior fittings. Guests can dine at the Zeta Bar or in the beautiful Glass Restaurant. The Zeta Bar can be hired for exclusive use for 400 guests or perhaps just use a small portion of this great space like the outdoor terrace area for a real city vibe. There is also the iconic Marble Bar down below the hotel to add some heritage flair to a night out. Again, this venue can also be hired exclusives to give your guests a special experience.
Vibe Darling Harbour
The Vibe Darling Harbour has undergone a full revamp and update just prior to the start of Covid so even though it’s been 2 years, this property feels brand new and well worth a stay. The 145 rooms are good value located in central Sydney and within walking distance of many city attractions and the ICC Sydney. The rooms and bathrooms are stylish and well-appointed having everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
There is the Sussex Store on ground level to cater for all meals or you are a short walk away from many of Sydney’s best cafes and restaurants. On the rooftop there is a vibrant terrace bar, Above 319, perfect for small groups. An intimate space that can be hired exclusively or in part to provide an easy, casual networking space for your event. You will find the heated pool on this level which can also be used as a function area giving a point of difference to your product launch or special celebration.
Sydney Harbour Marriott
This Circular Quay property has many excellent spaces that will suit a range of event requirements – small, large, indoor, outdoor. The Sydney Harbour Marriott open atrium lobby makes check-in a breeze and with 52 suites in its 595 room inventory, large groups can be accommodated easily. Many of the rooms have Opera House views to give guests a truly Sydney experience. There is the recently renovated Greatroom with a cosy Library nook featuring workstations and private seating plus 13 other meeting spaces to suit any multi-faceted agenda. After the conference your group can enjoy networking in a beautiful laneway setting or at the Customs Bar outdoor undercover area where you can soak up the city vibes and leafy outlook.
Finally, we got a sneak peek inside this exciting new W hotel opening in November 2022. Dubbed “The Ribbon” building, this playful brand brings to Sydney a little bit of Larrikin cheekiness in its design and style. With so many exciting features for guests, we look forward to sharing more with you soon.
