Top accomodation venues in South Australia

Ever considered South Australia as your next conference location? Adelaide is now more accessible than ever and in the city, everything a delegate would need to access is all within its walkable boundaries. By way of example, the Adelaide Convention Centre – which has undergone a $400 million upgrade in the past few years – is within a five-minute walk of more than 3000 quality hotel rooms. This easily-walkable city includes hotels, conference venues, advanced technology precincts and the main business district. Adelaide is known for its stunning churches and located within an hour away from gorgeous wine regions, there are plenty of activities and places to explore and enjoy to ensure your delegates are always entertained. This is a city that is certainly worth considering when location scouting!

There are a wide range of venues and types of hotels available in Adelaide. From the Adelaide Convention Centre to commercial hotels. They have gorgeous estates and boutique hotels, something for every type of conference and business event, regardless of the size. The city certainly does not lack incredible restaurants with delicious food and fabulous wine, all within walking distance to accommodation and convention centres. There is no wonder Adelaide has been ranked one of the most livable cities and it leaves delegates wanting for nothing. In March, our team attended the Destination South Australia conference and personally viewed and experienced 16 different venues across SA. It was a great experience for our team to get a closer look at more venues in South Australia and of course, increase our venue knowledge and make sure it is up to speed! Keep reading for our notes on all the venues we inspected with accommodation – or if you’re looking for something outside the box, check out this post instead for some incredible venues that are very accessible and may change the way you view the possibilities of conferences..

Atura Adelaide Airport Hotel: The Atura is a convenient 4 star hotel that is accessible by walkway link to both domestic and international terminals. This venue has small, modern meeting rooms and a beautiful, large ballroom which can accommodate up to 180 delegates banquet style. Their modern hotel is mirrored in their meetings and event spaces, which can cater for events from 2 to 320. They have 8 flexible private rooms, all flooded in natural light and views of the terminal. Atura has 165 guest rooms available, all in an industrial-chic style. 

The Playford: The Playford hosted Susan for her 3 night stay and she was able to see their gorgeous refurbishment throughout the entire hotel. Their conference room is bright and has an abundance of natural light. Their accommodation was very comfortable and they have several different room types available. The Playford MGallery is a boutique hotel in the heart of Adelaide which offers the perfect blend of classical style and contemporary luxury. Located only 9km from Adelaide International Airport, this hotel has a stunning Art Nouveau ambience and features 182 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites, luxurious amenities and exquisite cuisine. Ideally located opposite The Convention Centre, Casino, Adelaide Oval and within close walking proximity to the central business district.

Sofitel: Sofitel is a 5-star French luxury hotel with 6 small meeting spaces, catering up to 70 pax theatre style. They are located in the heart of the city, with lavish guest rooms that overlook the stunning views of the Adelaide coast, skyline and hills. They have 251 guest rooms and suites to choose from and feature an onsite restaurant, Garcon Bleu which is modern guest inspired.

Kingsford The Barossa: This venue is truly a stunningly beautiful property. It has recently completed a refurbishment and expanded with newly built accommodation and a new event space.  The heritage homestead was built in 1856, but the owners built new space to augment the original building. The property is beautifully styled with sweeping hillside vistas. This location is ideal for small executive meetings or incentive experiences.  

SkyCity / EOS Hotel: The SkyCity incorporates many different restaurant spaces along with a casino. There is a gorgeous rooftop bar, Sol, with views over the city and out to the sea. At SkyCity there are many event spaces available to suit a range of needs. There is also attached accommodation, the EOS Hotel. The EOS Hotel offers 6 star accommodation and service and has exceptional rooms that are both large and stylish. 

The Oval Hotel: The Oval Hotel is an excellent new build adjacent to The Adelaide Oval sports ground. Set at such an iconic location, their unique address places you within minutes of the vibrant city centre, while enveloping you in the tranquillity of the surrounding parklands. It is a very nice hotel with a gorgeous, luxurious feel. They have 138 guest rooms and for your event location, you can choose from expansive dining spaces, natural light-filled meeting rooms and unique outdoor terraces.

Beresford Estate: The Beresford Estate is a beautiful working vineyard with accommodation, dedicated function space and large restaurant, Vale Brewing, which can be hired out. All their villas and suites are newly built and tastefully designed, combining luxury appointed finishes with contemporary external design. Each suite is built in a way that complements the surrounding natural environment and cleverly utilises sustainable materials. In addition to this, the venue has magnificent views over the vineyard from Vale Brewing.

Crowne Plaza: The Crowne Plaza is a stunning venue. They have a new build hotel with reception on the 10th floor, showcasing beautiful sweeping views of the city. They boast the highest restaurant in Adelaide, Koomo, which is just gorgeous. Their conference space is located on the 2nd floor and features an abundance of natural  light. This conference space is ideal for groups of 10-180 delegates. 

Novotel, Barossa Valley: Novotel, Barossa Valley is in an excellent location with lovely accommodation rooms, studios and apartments. Their rooms have gorgeous views over the hills and their conference space is nice and cosy, ideal for smaller groups however Novotel is located close to other function spaces in the valley that can accommodate larger groups.
