Last week Susan from The Conference Shop packed her bags and headed north to join the NT Business Events Famil in Alice Springs. Here Susan got an updated look at all of the venues and experiences that this iconic destination has to offer for business events.
Here are some of her stand-out event venues in Alice Springs:
Doubletree by Hilton
Conveniently located just off the Stuart Highway, the Doubletree by Hilton is only 15 minutes drive from the airport and downtown Alice Springs is also within easy walking distance. Ideal for both corporate and leisure guests, the 235 spacious rooms have recently been refurbished and have views out towards the mountain ranges or overlooking the central pool. The Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 300 delegates with a pre-function foyer that includes a purpose-built bar. The foyer area opens onto an outdoor deck allow delegates to break out al fresco. There is also the Spinifex room for smaller conferences which boasts natural light and a Boardroom for meetings with up to 10 guests. This venue is always open to trying new things and will work with you to make your next event special, successful and memorable.
Crowne Plaza/Lasseters Hotel
Located at the foot of the majestic MacDonnell Ranges, Crowne Plaza Alice Springs is a 4.5 star property with 205 spacious rooms and suites. Many of the guest rooms have recently been refurbished with the remainder due to be completed soon. There are 3 restaurants on-site to choose from plus this venue is attached to the Lasseters casino and Alice Springs Convention Centre offering easy access for guests to enjoy four bars, a sports lounge, and a nightclub.
But the big news is there are $70m upgrades planned to begin at the end of the year that will double the hotel’s rooms, add a separate ballroom with mountain views, and update all existing spaces. This will truly be a standout venue in Alice Springs.
Alice Springs Convention Centre
Alice Springs Convention Centre is situated at the foot of the iconic MacDonnell Ranges and adjacent to the renowned dry Todd River bed. Close to the airport and within walking distance of the town center, this venue caters to groups ranging from small meetings to large conferences of 1,200 delegates. There is a spacious foyer and plenty of parking on-site. The Centre is due for an upgrade which will begin at the end of the year bringing this fabulously flexible space into an extremely desirable location for your next event.
The Old Quarry
There is definitely a ‘wow’ factor on approach to this amazing outdoor venue as your guests take in the stunning uninterrupted views of the East MacDonnell Ranges and soaring sandstone walls. This expansive space is inspiring and creates an immersive outback setting for your event. A natural canvas for creative AV, you can project images, film, or Aboriginal art onto the towering rock walls while guests enjoy a gourmet dining experience or rustic BBQ under the night sky. There is also a large covered area for Plan B but the wet weather option hardly ever gets used here as the dessert days and nights are usually glorious.
The Telegraph Station
Nestled amongst iconic river red gums of Central Australia and only 4km away from the town center, the Telegraph Station is a unique space steeped in local history. There are heritage buildings dating back to the 1870s which complement the natural beauty of the outback landscape and provide a picturesque backdrop to any function or event. The venue is suitable for events of all styles and sizes, from small intimate dinners to black-tie gala events for 500 guests.
Alice Springs Turf Club
Located on the southern entrance to town, the Alice Springs Turf Club has been voted one of Australia’s most scenic and picturesque racecourses. Host sunset drinks on the balcony or try the new restaurant, 1690, or stage your next function in the Marquee. With so many options to choose from, the Turf Club is sure to make your event one your guests will be talking about for a long time.
Yubu Napa Art Gallery
Yubu Napa has a relaxed and welcoming feel with a large range of art and local gifts showcased in the gallery. There are three gallery spaces and a working studio where you can host an intimate cocktail party or dinner surrounded by indigenous art creating a most unique and memorable atmosphere.
Araluen Cultural Precinct
The precinct consists of multiple venues including a 487-seat, purpose-built auditorium. There is an outdoor lawn perfect for evening gatherings complete with projection space plus a dance studio which can be used as a small meeting room as well. There is also Witchetty’s function space which can host conferences and special events.
