Event venues in the Tweed and North Coast

The Conference Shop is back on the road exploring event destinations all across Australia and today we want to share with you 12 unique and wonderful event venues on the Tweed / North Coast of NSW.


1. Sebel Twin Towns

Formerly the Mantra, this recently refurbished property is situated on the Southern end of the Gold Coast in the heart of Coolangatta. The $11M refurbishment elevates the rooms into a modern, contemporary style with a fresh feel that takes inspiration from the nearby beach.  This hotel sits adjacent to the Twin Towns Club and Conference Centre offering a strong combination of accommodation and conference space for any group size.


2. Twin towns Conference and Function Centre

A beachside property on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, the Convention Centre offers flexible meeting space in a convenient location.  The Gold Coast is just a 10-minute easy drive away plus there is on-site accommodation available at The Sebel or Mantra apartments.  From a 1000-seat showroom to a small boardroom meeting of 20 people, the Twin Towns can accommodate your conference requirements with ease.


3. Mantra on Salt Beach

Mantra on Salt Beach is a very versatile property with direct beach access from the beautiful pool and lawns, your delegates won’t need to go anywhere else to feel they’ve ‘arrived’.  The accommodation is relaxed and fresh with a range of rooms to choose from – hotel rooms, 1, 2, or 3 bedroom suites – perfect for accompanying family members or sharing.  The conference space has been recently refurbished in a Hamptons style with a pillarless ballroom accommodating 300 delegates that can be broken down into 3 separate rooms.  There is also a Pavilion that can host 100 delegates and is a separate, free-standing space offering an abundance of natural light.  The large reception area can also be used for exhibitions and dining.


4. Peppers Salt Resort & Spa

Located 20 minutes south of the Gold Coast airport, this seaside resort hugs the Kingscliff shoreline.  There are two pillarless ballrooms plus numerous breakout rooms and lounges catering for groups up to 300.  The accommodation is a combination of hotel rooms or 1, 2, and 3 bedroom spa suites.  Your guests can choose to dine in the Season Restaurant at the hotel or, just a quick stroll away the nearby Salt Village offers six different dining options and bars.


5. Hyundai Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre

The facility was built to train surfers to an Olympic and professional level but can now be used as a unique space to indulge your delegates in an active experience.  The property offers a fully inclusive corporate package for small groups which includes conference room hire with AV, on-site accommodation, in-house catering plus team activities from paddle boarding to trampolining.  With the recent addition of a fleet of Hyundai vans, transporting your group is so easy and convenient. 6. Halcyon House

An award-winning beachside luxury family-owned hotel, Halcyon House oozes Hamptons chic with its calming blue décor and personal touches.  There are rooms and spacious suites to accommodate all of your guest’s needs and being a smaller property, a complete buy-out will offer you exclusivity and privacy.  There is a hatted restaurant, Paper Daisy, using only the freshest local ingredients to help immerse guests into this stunning location.


7. Tropical Fruit World

Tropical Fruit World is a family-owned heritage business since 1972 that offers groups an extremely special experience.  The property history is more than a story, it is a labour of love and you feel it all around you in this expansive place from the Plantation Markets to the farthest field.  Visitors can tour this remarkable farm and immerse themselves in the informative tractor ride around the plantation giving them a truly unique souvenir to take home with them.  Groups can be hosted for tours or events.


8. Fins at Plantation House

Chef Steven Snow personally ensures each and every event held on these beautiful premises exceeds expectations.  The property sits adjacent to the 65 hectare Fruit World with sunset views over Mt Warning from the front lawn creating the perfect backdrop for welcome drinks or that special dinner.  The main dining area can seat up to 250 and flows directly onto an enchanted garden with a 120 year old fig tree.  Your group will be surrounded by elegant French styling with a distinctive luxe Plantation feel.  Guests can enjoy pop-up food bars, cocktails in the garden, lawn games or just lounging under the hanging vines.  There is a small separate meeting space for 20 people plus a gorgeous mezzanine living area for an intimate gathering of up to 12 people that can be hired for the day.


9. Husk Distillery 

A family owned business, the distillery sits 20 minutes from the Gold Coast Airport and 40 minutes from Byron Bay.  Husk Distillery is a recent build that not only offers distillery tours showcasing their rum, gin and whiskey manufacturing but can also host groups for special events.  Set on 150 acres of farmland where all their own sugar cane is grown, the building offers intimate private rooms for small meetings or dinners to the expansive outdoor area and lawn for large functions.


10. M-Arts Precinct

Looking for a truly unique space to host your next event?  Look no further than M-Arts Precinct in Murwillumbah.  This creative venue is 30 minutes from the Gold Coast and can accommodate anything from a casual cocktail party to a formal sit-down dinner for 20 to 450 guests in a relaxed and engaging setting.  The Art Deco building and historic warehouse offer a warm atmosphere buzzing with creative charm sure to give your group a memorable experience.


11. Tweed River House

From the moment you walk through the unassuming entrance of the Tweed River House, your gaze is treated to the most charming period styling of this heritage house which has been converted into a hatted restaurant.  A perfect dining experience for a special group occasion.  Nestled comfortably on the banks of the Tweed River with expansive views of Mt Warning and the surrounding landscape from the open balconing dining area, the century-old house is such a pleasure to dine in you won’t want to leave.  So sit back and order another mint julep to watch the afternoon sun fade to early dusk.  What’s your hurry?


12. Mavis’ Kitchen

This exceptional property at the base of Wollumbin-Mt Warning has recently been purchased from the original owners who established Mavis’ Kitchen.  The new owners continue the legacy of personal and sustainable service and Chef Clive certainly delivers an exceptional home-cooked dining experience using ingredients produced on the property or sourced locally whenever possible.  The ground floor area has recently been renovated due to flood damage and now boasts a great level space to host a function for 100 which can be tailored to suit your group.  You can engage your guests with a spit roast or have pop-up food stations right on the edge of the garden.  There are 4 on-site properties from a cosy one room cabin to a multi-bedroom farmhouse that can sleep up to 10 guests.  Perfect for a total buy-out for a small group.
