The Team 2

Carla 2
Carla was the founder of the highly successful Southern Highlands Corporate Events. Through her experiences with that business, she recognised the need for honest and objective advice to help people find the right venue.  Hence, she developed The Conference Shop, a venue finding service that makes planning events in Australia and around the world an easy process. She has a passion for the MICE industry and has worked in hotels, conferencing, venue sourcing and event management for over a decade.

Chris 3
Following more than 25 years as a business owner in the sales industry, Chris decided it was time for a change.  Having had experience in Southern Highlands Corporate Events for five years and being involved in the change over to The Conference Shop, it made sense that Chris should become a permanent fixture of the team.

Chris is responsible for researching new venues that come onto the market, and ensuring that all of The Conference Shop’s venue information is up-to-date. Chris is passionate about the growth and development of such a user friendly resource for conference organisers and looks forward to expanding The Conference Shop’s national and global network of outstanding venues.

Katie 2
Katie is the friendly voice of The Conference Shop and is responsible for managing the all important relationships with our clients, including suppliers and customers alike. With over 14 years experience working in the travel, events and corporate hospitality industries in England and Australia, Katie has organised many successful events for corporate and not-for-profit clients in Australia, Europe and the USA.  Her passion for events and her understanding of what makes a great event are perfectly suited to helping our customers find their ideal venue and for keeping them up to date with the latest news and offers.

Cathy is a passionate Conference and Events Industry specialist having worked within the Association, Corporate and Not for profit sectors for the past 20 years.  She has a great ability to understand her clients’ needs and thrives on creating experiences that not only meet but exceed their expectations.

Her strong communication skills, ability to motivate others and ‘can do’ attitude ensure her success in achieving outcomes and executing conferences, meetings and events of the highest standard, which is exactly what we are about here at The Conference Shop!

Emma 2
Emma Castle is a travel writer and copywriter with 15 years of Australian media experience who specialises in consumer travel, tourism business, events, parenting and wellness.

She edited Spice Magazine and Deputy Edited Hotel Management for four years. Prior to this, she spent 10 years working in PR for clients like Hawaii Tourism Oceania, the Ministry of Tourism for the Sultanate of Oman, Voyages Indigenous Tourism and Anantara Hotels and Resorts. She has been writing her lifestyle and opinion blog,, for nine years. She is the Co-Founder of Women in Tourism and she is the Founder of the Camden Garden Festival.
